Inside Elorea, a sleek new Korean perfumery in Manhattan’s NoLIta neighborhood, whose name is a portmanteau of “elements” and “Korea,” you will find paintings and pottery by Korean and Korean American artists, a cafe offering a chocolate and perfume pairing and shop attendants dressed entirely in black, eager to explain the brand’s gender-neutral fragrance collections. “Even though I’ve never heard of a Korean perfume brand, I just figured it’s going to be on another level,” said Albert Chun, 36, a customer whose parents immigrated from Seoul to Oakland, Calif., in the mid-1980s. “We’re such proud people,” he added with a half-laugh. “In our heads, in everyone’s heads, Korea is the capital of the world in terms of beauty,” said Wonny Lee who, along with his wife, Su min Park, founded Elorea as an online perfumery business last year.

The machine stood beside a deli counter, towering over cardboard boxes piled near the entrance to the Iconic Magazines store in NoLIta. It had the stature of a standing washer-dryer, with black buttons, rows of blinking lights and gauges labeled with celestial bodies — “sun,” “moon,” and the eight planets — on the front of its white facade. “It could be something from NASA,” said Tim Wiedmann, a 27-year-old student from Germany who visited the store on a Wednesday night in June. While Mr. Wiedmann stood in front of the machine, its front screen directed him to “ask the stars.” Using a knob, he cycled through some 100 questions. Among them: How do I get better at my job?

I’m looking forward to eating outdoors as much as humanly possible before it gets unbearably hot. That said, it’s reader question time and, as usual, my inbox was full of thoughtful and fun requests, including where to go for large-format dining, where to find carciofi alla giudia (Jewish-style artichokes) and where to have great nonalcoholic drinks. As always, please email your questions to wheretoeat@nytimes.com, and you may see them answered in a future newsletter. One of our favorite things to do with friends is to go out to eat where fixed-menu, family-style dining is offered. — Joy W.Francie, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, has a whole roast duck for $135 that’s presented with various flora before it’s carved up.

“Your eyes work differently when you become a parent, and you start seeing things in your city that you never saw,” Maneesh Goyal, the Manhattan businessman and restaurateur, said of fatherhood. Last year, he and his husband adopted a baby boy, now 20 months old. For many years he said he had a lot of identities, most of which seemed to circumvent parenthood and his Indian American roots. But in 1999, he moved to New York and became “an events guy, a marketing guy, an entrepreneur and a gay New Yorker,” he said. “Now I’m all about teaching what I took for granted from my cultural heritage.”
Financial services and consulting are some of the most popular fields for business school grads. According to statistics from Harvard Business School, financial services and consulting are the most popular paths for its graduates. When Colloredo-Mansfeld's husband got a professorship at the University of Iowa, she started working at Iowa's business school. Additionally, he had gotten a taste of business school years prior when he attended Stanford's Summer Institute for General Management Program. It was on these site visits that Richman started to work directly with customers and realized she had a passion for selling.
